JSS’ Santu faction kidnaps 5 in Jurachari

Members of the Santu Larma faction of the Jana Samhati Samiti have kidnapped five supporters of the United Peoples’ Democratic Front (UPDF) from the village of Shalbon under Jurachari Union, report Shamakal, Naya Diganta and Daily Purbokone.

According to a news report published in these Bengali dailies today, the UPDF supporters were kidnapped yesterday morning.

The victims have been identified as Sapta Moni Chakma (70), Sumiti Bikash Chakma (35), Ujjal Chakma (22), Arun Tonchongy (25) and Bimal Chakma (30).

“The JSS orchestrated the kidnapping with a view to foiling our party’s founding anniversary programmes on 26 December.” the papers quoted Maha Ranjon Chakma as saying.
