A group of army personnel from Laxmichari zone in Khagrachari district last night raided the village of Bhukkyachara, about 1km north-west of Laxmichari Upazila headquarters, sources said.

“The number of the soldiers was about 18, and they were accompanied by two other people who had covered their faces with bandanas,” a school teacher told chtnews.com by mobile phone from Laxmichari.

He said the army surrounded the houses of Rabi Kumar Chakma and his two sons Bishu Kumar Chakma and Babu Chakma in the village.

According to him, the soldiers looked for Bishu Kumar Chakma, an avid supporter of the UPDF, and his daughter Bobita Chakma, who is a member of the Hill Women’s Federation.

However, they were not at home during the search, and the army went back without arresting anyone.s
