UPDF supporter shot at, escapes unhurt

The armed members of the Jana Samhati Samiti (Santu group) shot at a supporter of the United Peoples’ Democratic Front (UPDF) in an overnight raid in Rajstali under Rangamati district, however, he escaped unhurt.

Sources said a group of JSS armed men surrounded the house of Ananta Bikash Tanchangya (37) in Rajstali bazaar in the small hours tonight, at 3:30am to be precise.

When his wife opened the door of the house, they JSS men asked her whether her husband was there.

She lied, fearing for his life. While she kept them talking at the door, Ananta ran away through the back door.

Other JSS men guarding nearby saw him and fired at him with their automatic weapons. However, he could escape unhurt and took refuge in the police station.

He is a staunch supporter of the UPDF. His father’s name is late Nalini Tanchanya.
