There have been hand-written posters put up in various places in Bandarban and Khagrachari towns saying that the so-called CHTNF (Chittagong Hill Tracts National Forum) is the creation of the army. Photo attached.
Some of the posters branded the CHTNF as the “new version of the Mukosh Bahini” or Masked force created and patronized by the army in 1995 – 1996.
Others carried slogans such as “stop human rights violations in CHT”, “we demand full withdrawal of troops from the CHT” and “put an end to army rule in CHT” etc.
The posters have been put up in the name of Democratic Youth Forum.
The posters created sensation in both the towns.
In Bandarban, a group of army personnel dressed in civvies went to the house of Rupon Marma, General Secretary of the PCP Bandarban District Unit, in Jadipara yesterday apparently to arrest him.
Mr. Marma was not available at home at the time.
The army men interrogated her mother about him and then left.
