Three innocent Jumma villagers tortured in Naniachar

Three innocent Jumma villagers were tortured by army in Naniachar on 9 June, according to independent sources.

Sources said the incident occurred at around 10pm when the victims were returning home in a country boat after selling jackfruits in Rangamati town.

When they reached Komtoli near Burighat some patrolling army personnel from Burighat camp led by Warrant Officer Akbar signaled them to come to the shore, but they took the army for robbers and sped up their engine boat.

However, the soldiers pursued and caught them up at a corner of the Kaptain Lake and beat them mercilessly.

The army freed them after torture.

The victims are Subrata Chakma, age 35, s/o Mongol Mohan Chakma of Mongtola village under Burighat Union, Mithon Khisha, age 16, s/o Anil Kumar Khisha of Mongtola village under Burighat Union and Tontu Bikash Khisha, age 28, s/o Chigon Dhan Khisha of Kengelchari village under Sabekyong Union – were returning home from Rangamati town after selling jackfruits there.
