The armed members of the Jana Samhati Samiti beat up five villagers at Jibtoli while they were on their way to Rangamati to attend a Boisabi rally today, UPDF sources said.
UPDF’s Alkesh Chakma from Rangamati told chtnews.com that the incident occurred at 8:30am. The Jumma villagers were coming from Belaichari in a passenger boat and heading towards Rangamati to participate in the Boisabi rally, organised by pro-UPDF sympathizers.
The JSS members forced them to get off the boat, beat them up, and then forced them to go back home.
The victims are Swapan Bikash Chakma, 20, s/o Kalamon Chakma, Haladhar Chakma, 30, s/o Anuruddha Chakma and Regan Chakma, 20, s/o Shanti Lal Chakma of village Bangalkaba; Sushil Chakma, 20, s/o Milon Shankar Chakma of village Rajdhan and Madan Chakma, 20, s/o Chandra Lal Chakma of village Headman Para in Belaichari.
