Rintu Chakma, an NGO activist, was shot and wounded in Rangamati town on Friday night, 7 November.

He was rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital and was released after treatment.

Mr. Chakma works for Ashika Manobik Unnayan Kendra, a non-government organisation active in Rangamati district.

AMUK is one of the 13 local NGOs who signed an appeal to the CHT HYSAWA Fund Board and Secretary, Ministry of CHT Affairs against irregularities in selecting NGOs for development projects.

There is widespread allegation that CHT Regional Council chairman Santu Larma has selected unskilled NGOs in return for money and other favours.
