Naniachar Massacre Day observed

The Hill Students Council today observed Naniachar Massacre Day in Naniachar as the local administration imposed section 144 on parts of the town.

About 1,000 participated in a commemoration rally held at Rest House ground at 12 noon. Earlier a procession was taken out and floral wreaths were placed before a makeshift monument set up for the martyred.

Presided over by Bilash Chakma, president of PCP Naniachar Unit, the rally was addressed by Mithun Chakma, General Secretary of the Democratic Youth Forum, Ricoh Chakma, president of Hill Students’ Council and Juthika Chakma, convenor of HWF Rangamati District branch.

Besides, Sushil Jibon Chakma spoke on behalf of the martyred families.

The speakers urged the government to publish the inquiry report on Naniachar massacre and punish those involved in the gruesome killing.

At least 36 Jummas were killing in this massacre.
