Ghilachari bazaar committee president threatened

The Commanding Officer (CO) of Naniachar zone has threatened Ananta Bikash Chakma, president of Ghilachari bazaar committee, sources say.

The CO and Major Mehedi came to Ghilachari bazaar in the morning yesterday and accused Ananta of providing leadership to the recent uprising of the Jumma women in Ghilachari.

“Since I have come here, I will do something and then leave. And I am informed that it is you who is behind all this (uprising)” the CO is reported to have told Ananta Chakma.

Major Mehedi threatened him, saying “We know what you do. We have got all the reports. So be careful!”
