Jumma villager arrested from wedding house in Naniachar

An innocent Jumma villager has been arrested from a wedding house in Naniachar under Rangamati district.

Sources said a group of 15 army personnel led by Warrant Officer Tapan from Burighat camp raided the house of Gale Bap Chakma in the village of North Edmara (Hatimara) under Burighat Union at around 8am today and picked up Nikhil Chakma (aged 25) s/o Hirohito Chakma from there.

He was attending a wedding ceremony in the house when the army arrested him. He is a resident of the same village.

Mr. Chakma has been taken to Burighat camp, two kilometers away from where he was arrested.

The army has not given any reason for his arrest. A team of the Jumma elders of the village is preparing to meet the army commander for his release.
