Mintu Chakma, Director of Bhumihin Samabay Samiti (Cooperative Society of the Landless) and a victim of 17-June terror attacks by JSS men, at a press conference today urged the government to take immediate steps to put an end to JSS-sponsored violence and arrest those responsible for the attack on his house in Rangamati.
Calling himself a staunch supporter of the United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF), Mr. Chakma, 42, alleged that a group of JSS members on 17 June attacked his flat of a house at Gorjonltoli and smashed the window panes.
“Immediately after the attack, I contacted the DC, SP and OC to inform them about the incident and asked for justice. But so far nothing has been done.” Mr. Chakma lamented.
He listed the violent attacks carried out by the JSS men in Rangamati town in the last few months, and demanded that they be brought to justice.
He said he has been feeling insecure since the attack on his house, and urged the government to restore peaceful environment in the town.
Mr. Chakma was flanked by his friends and colleagues at the press conference.
