Armed members of the Jana Samhati Samiti (Santu faction) have kidnapped an activist of the United People’s Democratic Front in Langudu of Rangamati district, said Michael Chakma, Organising Secretary of the Democratic Youth Forum.
Quoting local sources, he said, the incident occurred at about 3pm on 5 May when UPDF member Paresh Chakma, age 28, was on his way back home from Rangamati town after medical tests.
The JSS men led by Sandi alias Sidollya from Digholchari village halted the boat carrying him at Subolong bazaar and forced him to get off the boat.
Paresh Chakma is a full time member of the UPDF and had been working in Kattali area of Longudu.
His whereabouts has not been traced.
