Committee formed to organise Boisabi rally in Khagrachari

A 31-member Boisabi Celebration Committee has been formed with noted educationist Ananta Bihari Khisha as its convenor and Nirapad Talukder as member secretary.

Besides, Kshetra Mohan Tripura and Monkyoching Chowdhury have been made joint convenors of the committee, which will be responsible for organising a rally on the occasion.

The committee was formed at a meeting held on 2 April at Khabangpujjya.

Boisabi -- whose name is derived from the acronym of Boishuk, Sangrai and Bizu in Tripura, Marma and Chakma languages respectively – is the biggest social event in the Chittagong Hill Tracts.

The committee’s Member Secretary Mr. Nirapad Talukder, who was elected vice president to Khagrachari Upazila in the last January elections, said they are working to make sure the rally is held smoothly and peacefully.

The committee will also publish a poster asking people to uphold the tradition and refrain from displaying ostentation in preparing food items during the festival, he said.

Our sources said preparations are also underway in Rangamati to organise a similar rally there.
